*Yawn*

Been something of a sleepy do-nothing day today. I was up late last night, talking with Lorelle and Meggin after the Veggie Group dinner, and so slept in - until almost 10.30. *chuckles* It always astounds me how much I'm able to sleep sometimes. It must be because of winter - bed's the warmest place at the moment, and there's something luxurious about lying under warm covers listening to the rain on the patio roof outside my window. And because I wasn't sure when Michael was going to ring, I couldn't really go online, so I spent the bulk of the day watching videos. Nothing new, just the movies I have on tape. Ghost In The Shell, the English dub version, most unfortunately, that I taped off SBS when it was on, and then Misery, which is part of the Stephen King three-movie collection my brother gave me for Christmas one year. *chuckles again* I have no idea why - I'm not a huge King fan, not having read his books since high school, but it's also got Dolores Clairborne, which I think is not a bad movie, especially with the cinematic techniques used: the flashbacks in bright 1970's colours, the present muted and grey. Misery is probably one of the better King books, and one of the better film adaptations. The book gives some interesting insights into the writing process - the main character is obviously a self-insertion, but since most of King's heroes are elements of himself, I won't hold it against him.

Anyhoo, Michael's rung and is on his way - he should get in around 7.30 tonight. At least I'm not hanging around waiting for the phone to ring now - I hate and loathe doing that. :P

Something that came up during last night's conversation over coffee - gratitude journals. The basic premise is that every day you write down five things you are grateful for, even if it's just to be alive and breathing. The last one has to be something about yourself that you're grateful for. Now, I won't subject the people who read these meanderings of mine (and welcome to everyone and anyone who wants to do that, BTW) to a daily dose of gratitude, but I did think it was similar to some of the things I do any way, to give myself persepctive and to cheer myself up. So it may turn out to be a weekly thing. ;)

Five Things I Am Grateful For:

1) The Crying In Public Places tape Greta made for me after she got me hooked on the CD.

2) The feel of cold mist on my face as I was walkign back from the supermarket today, and the smell of eucalyptus.

3) My friends, who support me and make me laugh.

4) The phone call I had with Michael last week, which was fun and flirty and not at all awkward like last time.

5) My ability to see things from the other point of view, which helps me understand people, and also helps me get inside the characters I write.

Okay, enough from me, before I descend into tripe. ;) Besides, it's the first night of Le Tour De France, and they're running the first criterion and that means I have to go drool now.
