It's true that the sun does make you feel better - it's a lovely sunny Spring day, and I'm about to head off to visit my mum and a couple of her friends down the pub for lunch. They have a son who is working in Canada - due back in a few weeks - and I'm hoping for some pointers on this Employment Authorisation thing, seeing how my other avenues have proved fruitless. No, I'm not planning on emigrating, but I would like to spend some time there - at least four months, a year if I can get work - and travel around and see the place properly. And visit as many fanficcers as possible, of course. :) But that's on the 'would love to, but have to see if it's possible' pile.
Piked on work this morning - the alarm went off, and I kept hitting 'snooze' until it got the idea. I guess I needed the sleep. It's not big deal, I'll just work all day Thursday instead. I'm actually considering changing things officially to that - I tend to do it every couple of weeks anyway. Paula's going on holidays for two weeks in October, which means two weeks full time for me, which will be welcome - I've earmarked pretty much all of the money for my credit card bill. And my tax return is in, so hopefully I'll have some extra floating around to help out with AussieCon.
Ah yes, AussieCon. We're looking at the first weekend of December, and for a good reason - there's a good-ish chance Dex will be there, provided he can get together the airfare. Considering he was out of pocket after Dexcon (I won't say how much by, but it was a lot), we're contemplating passing 'round the hat. Only problem is, most of the Aussies are students, and broke half the time anyway. :P Maybe we can tweak with the exchange rate and get some American donations, eh? *grins* Consider it relaxation therapy after Dexcon.
Hrm, I should get moving - I might be online later, it just depends. I do have to get to work on my entry for this short story competition - one of my entries, any way! I have two new stories, plus another one that's been half-finished on my hard drive for the past six months and I'm only now getting back into it. All different styles, different genres, just to give myself a chance. I may be asking for some beta readers: the deadline's the 28th of September, so if I can get them finished this week, that would work well. Any volunteers?
