Time for your daily Rossi update.

Although I don't really have a lot to say. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] stayed over last night, and we watched the extremely good John Pilger documentary on SBS about Afghanistan and Iraq and US policy regarding their war on terrorism. Cue lots of mocking and abusing of various talking heads from the US administration as they appeared on screen. And seriously, anyone who thinks everything is just hunky dory in Afghanistan after the ousting of the Taliban is just deluding themselves. The war lords are the ones essentially in control, the opium trade has been revived (guess the War On Terrorism is more important than the War on Drugs, neh?), women and children are suffering physical abuse and rape, and there is no money to rebuild the country - Kahbul is still a bombed-out shell of a city.

And don't get me started on Iraq.

Any way, after the righteous indignation, there was Buffy to be watched, popcorn eaten and just general laziness and relaxing before making up a bed for Bounce on the floor out of my couch cushions and trying to sleep in what must have been 30-odd degree Celcius heat (somewhere in the 90s-100s for the Farenheit folks). Icky, sticky weather. Of course, it will rain later today, most likely as I'm riding home, since I cleaned my bike, including chain. And I have to say, pumping up the tyres certainly increases my performance - I was neck-and-neck with this other cyclist (a rather nice-looking guy with very good legs) for most of the way into the city, until he ran a light I couldn't quite manage without imminent death by squishing and I lost him. Top speed of 40 km/h racing down the hill.

With the humidity and the heat, today was not the best day to have the aircon at work break down, so of course, that's what it did. We had all the blinds closed and all the external doors propped open when I got in, but at least they managed to fix it fairly quickly.

And now I'm just pootling along, listening to a co-worker's raphsodies about the Duran Duran gig he went to last night and waiting for lunch. And of course, reading LJ. People need to post more.

Counting down.

Half an hour to go, yay yay. I've got karate early tonight (6pm instead of 6.30) and a Christmas thing to go to afterwards. Not too much with the misbehaving, considering work tomorrow, but still, I'll have a good time. Especially with the number of people coming who don't usually since Hanshi Tony Jackson is going to be there.

I went and had lunch at EatDrinkBento today. I had to use my credit card to buy lunch, so I figured I might as well go somewhere nice. Thankfully my pay should be in my account now.

Busy-ish week, really. I'm picking up my plane tickets tomorrow (I can now that I have my passport and the money for the insurance), and going out for lunch on Friday to farewell Allie (who is finally leaving on maternity leave, wah!) and Jac (whose bitchiness I won't miss at all, juvenile little cow), and then giving blood straight after. At least I won't need to have much to drink at the PERIN Christmas party Friday afternoon. Besides, there househunting to be done on Saturday, before the estate agents close at 2.30 pm.

I'm hanging out for Sunday - my first sleep-in for a while (if you don't count Monday, that is!).

Better try and drink one more bottle of water before I go - I need to be well hydrated for the vampires on Friday.
