Ooh look, attention span of a hummingbird!
All sorts of things I want to talk about tonight, and none of them will be in any kind of order. So hold on, this could get surreal. ;)
The CBFFAs. Great job this year - the segments were all great to read in their own right, and Dex and his team have done a brilliant job this year. Congrats to everyone. :)
One award for me this year, "Suffer the Children" receiving joint "Best Serious" with Dex's "The Sum of Zero". Pretty amazing fic to be equal first with, is all I can say. :) Considering my output in 2001 was pretty small (not the best year for creativity, last year), and the caliber of the stories and writers I was nominated with, I'm pretty happy. When I first started posting stories, it was inconceivable that I'd be getting CBFFA nominations in the same categories dominated by Dark Mark, Doc Benway, Amanda Sichter and Dex... so I consider the nomination as much of an honour as the actual award. *grins* This just means I'll be trying that much harder this year.
I posted again to Reality Strikes Back tonight, a nice long party scene-setting post. I think I mentioned everyone, but apologies to anyone I missed. Things had stopped over the weekend, so I figured I'd give it another kick start. *grins* This one's got too much in it to let die - I've still got the "Rossi's new job" post to do, and I need the day to progress before I can do it. Although, if my Subreality Psychic abilities are right, Dex has already planned something similar with Doqz's workplace.

GASP - it seems like just about every Aussie ficcer is going to be turning up on my doorstep. All welcome of course, but I'm hoping people can bring their own towels and some bedding and contribute to the food - I could run short here. Actually, those interested in coming to sunny Wodonga over ANZAC Day weekend, could you email me? I'm guessing you all have my email addy - if not, you should, if you're coming to my house. *grins* Once I have an idea of who's coming, I can do a sort of organisational-type email. Transport-wise, I'll leave it up to you, especially since I'm sorta stuck in the middle here. People needing lifts to/from train stations and airports, let me know so I can borrow the car/parent organised (not that Dad will be driving on the Thursday *grins* ANZAC Day is kind of... interesting when your Dad's a vet).
So, let me know who's coming, okay? I'm kinda in the dark here. ;)

I went swimming again today, after work since it was pouring rain at lunchtime. It was humid - it's still thundering and raining on and off now - and the water was initially cold but then very nice. I feel so much better, physically and emotionally, after my swim. It's the same feelign tai chi gives me, probably for much the same reasons. The movement is calming, the concentration on the breathing almost like meditation, and it tires me out enough to stop that 'tightly wound' feeling that seems to be my default these days.
And there's more of that nifty water stuff involved too. *grins* I know Taurus is an Earth sign, but I have definite Water leanings. Maybe I was something aquatic in a previous life. ;)
It's already nearly the end of March. Easter this weekend. I don't have any plans yet - probably won't do much, maybe focus on some family stuff, since I've neglected things lately. Easter isn't a big deal in our family - none of us is really religious enough - but I welcome the time off. I woke up this morning and my first thought was "Fuck. Work." That's the problem with booking my tickets, now I'm just wanting it to be July.
Better night housemate-wise tonight. He's still depressed, but doing things, which, as I told him this morning, shows improvement from last month when things were so bad. And he's making plans to move, and there's all that stuff in boxes, so I can afford to feel generous. ;) We're even talking and making jokes, just like we used to. I missed that.
I have plans for a surprise for someone. No, I'm not getting any more specific than that. But I'll need an evening to do it, 'cause it involves a night of tracking down and ripping CDs. *grins* Yep, another custom-made Rossi CD. :)
