I think I'm an elitist.
Or at least, that's how it feels. Conversation in the tea room this morning revolved around the new series of Big Brother and a new comedy/interview show called Greeks On The Roof, which drags up Effie, a comedienne whose schtick is not unlike the whole My Big Fat Greek Wedding thing; she's Greek and she's dumb. Now, I know of these shows because I watch a little commercial TV (mainly Buffy and Angel, with the occasional bit of Law and Order if I'm not overloaded on work stuff), but you'd have to nail me to a chair and clip my eyes open in Clockwork Orange fashion before I would even get close to watching these. And yet pretty much all my work colleagues are hooked on these things.
Am I a freak? I'm starting to think I must be.
Had [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] over for dinner last night. I also dragged her down the laundromat to watch me do a load of laundry (I was at Underwear Crisis stage) and we talked about Life, Politics and Other Things Wrong With The World. *grins* We also talked fanfic, and movies, and stuff that wasn't all serious. Faced with this kind of evening, and one spent watching the Marching Morons of Big Brother, I know which I vote for.
And hey, it's Friday. :) The place is full of senior registrars for some meeting or other, so I'll have to look productive. Not easy, when it's casual day and I'm slobbing it in my Mountain Design khakis and the "Life Is Good" t-shirt I got in California. And we mustn't forget the hiking boots. *grins* Ah yes, the very model of professionalism.
Ooh, and autumn has finally arrived! Perfect Melbourne autumn morning - fog, cold enough for my breath to fog as I was waiting for the tram (I'm going to start riding in again next week, when I'm not coughing every five minutes), touch of rain on my face... Call me weird, but I have to say this is my favourite time of year.
Gotta go, there's too many boss types wandering around. :)
