Ah JB, you've done it again...
This doesn't refer to the lovely [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], but rather to JB Hi-Fi, Melbourne's cheapest new CD shop place of terrible temptation. Especially when they're having a warehouse sale. I went down there at lunchtime with the intention of buying a couple of things with my birthday money and came back with not one, not two, but six new CDs. But I think they're all worth it, and hey, I get three paychecks this month, as well as my refund from Medicare yesterday, so I feel completely justifie d. *grins* Or at least that's what I keep telling myself.
So, the loot tally:
Beth Orton Central Reservation. I have this as a copy, but it's not a good one and skips quite a lot, so when I saw the original for $14 I had to have it. The opening track "Stolen Car" has this great riff that sounds not unlike the Angel soundtrack, violins and guitars.
Moby 18. Yes, I am such a fangirl. This was the first one I listened to when I got back from work, and it is, as you'd expect from Moby, wonderful. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] can expect a copy this weekend. :)
Travis The Invisible Band. Another new musician for me - I love The Man Who... so I decided on this one. Haven't listened to it yet, as I've run out of time at work, but I'll be tossing into the CD at home tonight. It does have "Sing" on it, which I remember from Triple J.
Michael Franti Songs From The Front Porch. Mr Franti goes acoustic. I figured it was as good a time as any to commence my love affair with him. :)
Two soundtracks: He Died With A Falafel In His Hand which has a nice mix of indie hits and weird stuff. Nick Cave rubs shoulders with Les Negresses Vertes and Deborah Conway does a remix of "Man Overboard". And there's the "Dr Who (Cybermen Remix) from Pound System, which I think I'll have to send to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] should she have an email account that can deal with MP3s. Also Shine, which I picked up for $6. I've been wanting it for a while, but not enough to pay full price, and got lucky in the bargain bin. :)
Left behind - the two new Lucksmiths CDs, which were too close to full price and which I want to check the second-hand places for first, and Women at the Well, a collection of Paul Kelly songs done by Aussie female artists. Again, one to check the second hand places for.
And it's five o'clock and I've been given permission to depart. Catch you all later. :))
