Good weather for ducks...

So, we're finally getting some rain. I saw something on the news last night about how El Nino is finally gone and we should be coming out of the drought we've had for the last few years, which is very good news for everyone all round. And we've got rain forecast for the next three days, which isn't so good if you're a cyclist trying to not get smooshed on the roads, but hey, I can live with getting wet and having to slow down a bit on slippery roads, if it means my favourite fountain outside the Casino comes back into operation. Oh, and it's good for the farmers too. Can't forget them.

It's strange how small things can make you feel happy. Like a pretty new shirt with lacing down the front. Going to the movies with a friend. Realising that now you're not trying to get overseas in a month, you can actually look at enrolling in that short course in publishing and perhaps get some qualifications that aren't court-related. Remembering that you don't have to write that expression of interest for a short-term promotion at Sunshine Court for Monday, you can just cut and paste the summary from your last job application. Porridge with honey and vanilla yoghurt.

Every so often I get lost in the big scheme of things. I forget that it's about the small stuff, taking one step at a time. I get impatient and want everything to happen at once, and then get disappointed when things don't turn out that way. But just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. I just have to keep working at it.

And maybe get a pet. Something to talk to of an evening.

I'm going to head down to the supermarket and pick up some stuff I forgot last time I went shopping, and get some money out. Or rather, get some money out and then go shopping, since it generally works better that way. Less alarms and police and strip searches.

Whoever said rain was good for ducks OBVIOUSLY isn't one. Meddlesome humans thing just because they see ducks flapping about and quacking loudly in their flocks on a rainy day that 'they're having a great time'. We're trying to dry off, you silly person. Swimming is okay, when we want to... but rain just makes us angry. And your modes of transport and park benches wouldn't like us when we're angry.
