Signs of life

Like a leviathan, rising from the depths, I dragged my sorry butt out of bed this morning and staggered off to Old City Hall to pick up Yet Another Jail Order. In the slush. *grfs* However, I'm here at work and it's toasty warm and I've finally eaten for the first time since 2 pm yesterday. Soon there will be tea.

Never speak to me of Kansas City International Airport again.

We finally got our plane at around 9:15 pm. I'm not entirely sure, being completely and utterly trashed by that point. I passed out before the safety talk ended and didn't fully wake up until we got off the plane in Toronto at midnight-ish. Dex left me at the corner to go to the Griffin, I stumbled home, dumped Leonard, checked in online and then fell into a coma on my nice, comfortable, non-squishy pillowed bed. Work late-ish this morning, but managed to write off the delay as me having to go pick up that order.

However, I did have a very good time, and it was great to see folks. Much laughing throughout the weekend, which is always of the good.

This week's going to be a little crazy, tho' - Band Night tonight (not to self, nap when you get home!), counselling appointment Wednesday, nothing on Thursday yet, another medical appointment and possibly drinks with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] on Friday. I may hermit this upcoming weekend, just to give myself a breather. And there will definitely be some cutting back on the boozing - after yesterday's effort, I'm feeling the need.

Fun with covers - contrast and compare

Here are two links to a song called "I Was Only 19 (A Walk In The Light Green)", a Vietnam song by an Aussie folk band called Redgum. The cover is by an Aussie rap band called The Herd, passed onto me by [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. It's quite possible Dad will either love or hate the second version, but I'm curious to see what people think.

The Herd version

And to help people out... lyrics, with notes.

And now with added clips! Redgum version only.
