So much for Band Night - I fell asleep on the couch around 7:30 pm, woke up almost three and a half hours later, having neglected to ask the roomie to wake me. Ah well. Going to bed now.

Completely screwed my sleep cycle - took forever to go to sleep, then had the fun of waking up every couple of hours, reacting to any noise in and out of the apartment. So yeah, awake and not really wanting to be, atm. And I have another stop at Old City Hall Court to make on the way to work (yes, more jail orders for that bloody huge case of ours), plus a veritable shitload of work for Jane, who is in today.

'S not fair. *pouts* I only should be this tired after having seen the band.

And there's no breakfast, since we're out of bread and milk and I forgot to go get any last night. Looks like I'll be picking something up on the way in again.

Perfect frame of mind to go to the counsellor in.

For those who haven't heard/read me talking about the Gnish case, it's the couple who run fake credit agencies across Ontario, and who were recently jailed for 18 months on one of their 20-odd matters. They've applied for appeal bail, and that hearing's been bouncing back and forth for a while now, mainly because they haven't been able to get their respective acts together and obtain Judge's Orders to transport them from jail to court. At the last hearing on Monday, the Judge ordered that the Crown (that's us) obtain the order for Ms. Gnish, since they've been unable to secure her attendance at court yet. Apparently he was rather snarky about it.

So, I come in Tuesday to find I need to get a JO issued for January 29. Problem is, the jail demands two week's notice, and at that point we were down one day. However, I wrote up the order, made my affidavit and ran it into Old City Hall last night, on the way home.

I went to pick it up today, only to find that they weren't able to issue it. Why? Because the appeal is in the Superior Court, and the JP didn't feel he had the authority to issue orders for a higher court. So, after getting directions, I made my way through the slushy snow to the Superior Court. Having had to circle practically the entire building to find the front door, I was re-directed to three separate offices before finding where I was supposed to be.

Only to find that they wouldn't issue it either, since it's for Barrie and not Toronto Superior Court. *headdesks*

Right now one of the investigators is on her way here, where I'll meet her outside the building and give her the folder with my affidavit and the order in it. From there she'll drive to Barrie Superior Court, hopefully get the order signed, and then bring it back for me to fax. I'll have to courier it to Vanier Centre for Women to make sure they get it asap, but we're looking at probably another day's delay at this rate and I'm reasonably sure all this work is going to go for nothing since the jail won't be able to arrange transport in time. In which case the matter will be put over again, the Judge will demand another order, and the whole thing will start all over again.

*sighs*

And that's been just part of my day. How's yours?
deathpixie: (one day I'll fly away)
So, apparently my subconscious was a little anxious about the counselling thing, and insisted on making me think my appointment was this week, despite the fact it's in my calendar for next week. Which was actually the correct date, and not a mistake like I thought it was. *rolls eyes* So yeah, no counselling for me today. Always counselling next Wednesday. And after all that psyching myself up I've been doing today. Bah.

At least I know where it is now?
