One of my co-workers, who sits in the cubicle next to mine, was telling me about how his three year old daughter is riding a bike already. I made a joke about how she could be the next Kathy Watt, who was a gold medallist in track cycling a few years ago.

"What, you mean a lesbian? I hope not."

"Well, I was referring to her cycling ability, but if you're going to see it that way..."

"Well, you know what I mean. Women in sport and all that."

"Tim, riding a bicycle does not make you gay."

*sighs* I really hope he was joking. Mind you, that's about the general mindset of your average Australian voter, if the election results are anything to go by.

Ai. Idiots like that take up more space than they deserve. However, you get insane amounts of (rather petty) amusement from imagining them being tortured and hideously maimed. *Tanks with pirhanas in, needles in their eyes, broken fingers...*

Wouldn't matter so much except he sits right _there_ and _never_ shuts up. I've already told him I found his comments offensive, next step is to talk to the manager if he keeps it up. Even if the solution means moving to the Desk of Pregnancy.

And, AFAIK, Kathy Watt wasn't gay. She did hate Charlie Walsh with a passion, but so do a whole bunch of other people. It's hardly evidence.

Whether she is or not is beside the point. It's the whole attitude that women in sport must be gay. *rolls eyes* And the fact he was plain offensive about it too. Moron. Luckily he's been quiet (mostly) the last couple of days.

I thought you might be a Charlie-hater. As I am. The man was a moron. The only cyclists who did any good at Olympics (I'm thinking KW and Darryn Hill) tended to loathe him with a screaming, burning passion.

As for the next-door-neighbour - well, stupid person who ignores facts in favour of prejudices sounds like it sums him up. There are many of them. One must be patient and remember that they won't last long when the Republic of Amanda is up and running *g*.
