Wow, busy day. Eight deaths reported in the first two hours - we ended up with 12 overall. Plus at least six applications from families to not have an autopsy. The duty coroner is going to have fun tomorrow...

I also discovered that I rock at writing findings of death. Basically you read through the statements, the medical reports, the autopsy results and the police summaries, and summarise all that into a statement for the family that describes who the person was and what happened to them. I did one the other day for a woman who killed herself under a train after forty years of depression, and of the two pages, there was one correction from the coroner. One.

Go me.

Gorgeous view along the bay as I rode home tonight. The sky was that smudged sunset colour, all pinks and purples and hints of gold, and the water itself was dead calm and silver, reflecting the ambient light. I stopped on the way and just admired it, wishing for my camera yet again...

Tomorrow is my birthday, but it's also the day my Dad goes in for surgery. Everyone wish him well - he reads my LJ to keep up on what I'm doing. Good luck, Dad, and I'll call tomorrow night.

I've never met you before, but I really hope your surgery goes well. I'll be thinking good thoughts all the way over here in New York City.

Thank you Trishalynn, for the email of support, the operation went well so Rossi still has the old fella around for a few years yet to support her where and when I can.
Maybe when she goes to Canada and we visit her, we can also catch up with some of her O/S friends,
Take care,

John [Rossi's dad]
