Breaching the Dam.
I think I mentioned earlier in here that I was... not Writer's Blocked per se, but mildly jammed. Lacking in impetus, enthusiasm, whatever. I was getting the ideas for stories, but not getting much beyond that. Well, tonight I've written the first three pages of a new fic, and I only stopped there because it's getting late and I'm clerking in court tomorrow. So I am Much Pleased.
I have to thank the Bath Gods for the inspiration - yes, once again, I was in the bath. I'm spending a lot of time in there, a) because I'm a sucker for hot water and bubble bath, and b) my back's still playing up and I was on chat all day and royally screwed it up. Of course, sitting here again writing, isn't helping it any, but it did feel much better after an hour-long soak.
Any way, I was thinking over the Collective Mutants ideas Mel and Trish have given me, and thinking, "As much as I love those kids, I really don't want to write another CM fic, even another character piece, just yet. I want to do something else." Then I found myself thinking of the Neverwhere/Gen X crossover I originally plotted out a couple of years ago almost, and thinking, "Gen X doesn't really grab me, and Dark Mark's right - it's more of a Vertigo thing." Of course it wasn't a difficult leap from there to Tim Hunter. So I have the first three pages of a Neverwhere/Books of Magic crossover. Gaiman crossed with Gaiman. It fits. :)
