Hah!

Death to the meme! I have answered all those requests that were made. :)

I also ended up napping on the couch for two hours when I got home. I was dead all day. And early to bed for me tonight, since I have nightshift tomorrow and I want to be able to stay awake and actually have a functioning brain. :P

Plans for Canada, since [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] asked me in a reply to the Dread Meme which is friendslocked so I can't link to it like I was going to. *grins* And she's not the first person to ask about Canada and what happens next.

In purely factual terms, what I'm planning to do while I'm there is this: get a job, preferably not in a court, but possibly in the area of the legal system since I have all this training and it'd be a shame to waste what will be nine years of experience come October. Live with one of my closest friends, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and hope we don't kill each other. Use my steady income and vacation time to travel to the parts of Canada I haven't seen yet (the northern provinces and the east coast) as well as revisiting the bits I have and love, like the Rockies and the Queen Charlotte Islands. Then in a couple of years do the Great Europe Trip I've always planned, since it'll be cheaper to go from Canada than from here, plus the whole cheaper living by having a flatmate and not going to Dexcon every year and the like.

In personal terms... I'm going because travelling is a passion. I've always wanted to live and work overseas, it's been the plan since I was a teenager. But there's more to it than that - it's about moving on with things, getting out of the rut I've found myself settled into. It's about giving myself the chance to move on, deal with things on my own terms.

The break up was a pretty fundamental change for me, and it made me aware a lot of things in my life weren't what I wanted them to be. I've come a long way, personally, but I think it's time to take the next step and yank myself out of the comfort zone I've found myself in. Challenge myself, do new things, meet new people. Perhaps get a different perspective. :)
