The shine has gone...
Why is it some people are so eager to create conflict? I don't mean debate, I mean nasty, deliberate conflict. And to make matters worse, they claim they're "just being honest". Bah. There's a difference between being honest, and deliberately shit stirring.
It's always the same with the fan-fic community. There's something new being tried out, and everyone is enjoying it, and then someone has to start the bitching. I've seen it in round-robins, I've seen it on the message boards, and now I'm seeing it with the livejournals. People are posting stuff that deliberately hurts other people, with the aim of it being read, not because they're being "honest", but because they want to hurt that other person and start shit fights. I think it just sucks. Forgive me for being naive, but I want to believe the best of people, and all too often lately, they're confirming my worst fears.
I'm going to reassess my "friends" list - if you're taken off, I don't care if you take it personally. I'm sick of polluting my airspace with petty quarrels that hve nothing to do with me.

Good question, Rossi. Wish I knew the answer.
Do not make snarky comments to or about me in my journal.
in other people's journals.
I don't think this is what Brad and the other livejournal folks had in mind.
That's why my friends list, while big, is carefully monitored and edited as warranted.
And why I don't take people off and put them back on depending on who I'm happy with right this second. I know arguments between mature adults will pass and everything'll be cool again.
I think people should remember the golden rule, as elementary as that sounds. But apparently that's not happening.
I wish I knew how to fix it.
