Meep.

I feel like somethign of a fraud, now. After my whinge-post, Mel rang and emailed to let me know that she was intending to visit whilst BRM is away in America, finances permitting. And then Andraste said she'd try to come along too, and now Raph has added another tentative intention. *looks apologetic* Now I feel kinda silly, feeling lonely, 'cause I have these wonderful friends who are willing to spend time and money coming to visit me in the wilds of Wodonga. I'm sorry for my recent bouts of pathetic-ness, as they're really not warranted when I have this much support.

*hugs everyone* The first round's on me.

Had my interview for the diversion position today. Did okay - not brilliantly, but I didn't want to actually get the job, so it's not big deal. I am going to have to brush up on my skills with Jan, tho', for the next time. The next job will hopefully be something I want. And talking to the folks at Melbourne Magistrates', I could quite easily walk into any poistion at my current level - they're that short staffed. I'd prefer a promotion, but it's nice to have that as a back-up.

The other thing about having a few hours in Melbourne (after the interview and hanging around talking to people), is that I had the chance to go to my favourite music shop - JB Hi Fi. *grins* Yes, more ficcer allusions. It has the cheapest new CDs in Melbourne, so I took advantage of that and the sale they had on and got the new Paul Kelly and the second volume of the "Down In The Lucky Country" compilation - it has "Quasimodo's Dream" by The Reels on it, one of my favourite Reels songs, second after "Kitchen Man". I couldn't find the Diana Ah Naid CD that Mel reccomended, so I went to Collector's Corner, the second hand CD place, and found it there instead. Got it on now, and it still kicks major arse.

A couple of book purchases, also, from the ultra-cheap place on the way to Spencer Street train station. One for dad: Dragons On The Sea Of Night by Eric Von Lustblader (a tad Marty-Sue macho for me, but dad likes them), and Neuromancer by William Gibson. I hadn't actually read it yet, contrary to what people may have thought from the stuff I came up with in the "Form Of Things To Come" round robin. That's always happening - I 're-invent' concepts or lines from books I've never read; it can get annoying, because people think I'm either ripping things off or just not very imaginative. :P Needless to say, I'm completely hooked on this book now. Seraph's Leviathan is just going to have to wait a little longer.

And that's the last bit of spending I do for a while - got my credit card statement yesterday, and while it's not as bad as it could be, it's still not great. Gonna have to work at paying that off before AusCon.

Off to bed for me, I'm tired after seven hours of train trips and getting up at 5.30 this morning. :P

WAI!

I'll try not to get my hopes up, but it would be great if I could go and see all of you. Wodonga won't be quiet for long. ;)
