Ain't nobody who can sing like me...

Guitar lesson tonight, for the first time in months: Johnny's been insanely busy and distracted and the rest of it. However, tonight we played for a good couple of hours - not quite to finger bleeding stage, thank you Bryan Adams - and he gave me a capo, which is one of those gizmos you use to change the key you're playing in. It's all very exciting. :)

And I'm not as out of practice as I thought I might be, given the last time I played was New Year's, and drunkenly at that.

Johnny was also telling me about his List. There are 502 songs he knows how to play, off the top of his head or with a minimum of prepping. Isn't he a clever clogs?

Oh, and today my shoes exploded. So I have to go shoe shopping. Bleah.

Exploded? Like on your feet? o.O

And boo, shoe shopping. I have to go buy a pair of sneakers to mall walk during lunch.

(Hee, I can't wait to hear you play next time I visit.)

You followed 'shoe shopping' with 'bleah'.

I... I am at a loss.

Capos are the win. :) I briefly tried to learn how to play the guitar, and the capo was the funnest part.

Um, I started mine with boo...*runs from you*

You two. Honestly.

Would you come live a little closer so that I may show you the love that is shoes?

[identity profile] frito-kal.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
... Please stop saying these things. It's very distracting to me.

Have you tried wide shoes with a heel pad?

Also, almond/round toes are coming back in style! Hurrah!

[identity profile] indiana-j.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't quite get the pointy. It's like they're trying to make women's shoes stabbity death weapons.

[identity profile] amythyst7.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
And really who needs that? Except Medusa and Mark...

Too bad this isn't something that could wait until March...I win at shoe shopping.

Your shoes... exploded? That sounds uncomfortable.

Seriously, though - wide feet and shoes are a problem. I've got shoes in sizes ranging from 9-11, just because my stupid feet are not normally shaped. (They aren't, like, Quasimodo feet or anything. Just wide. Otherwise, they are quite normal looking.) My trick is hunting for brands that have a wide size as well as a normal one.

The guitar stuff sounds awesome - it's something I completely respect people for doing, because I am crap at music that doesn't involve sticks (I'm a percussionist... or I was, in high school).

I love shoe envying. I can do that for hours. Shoe shopping, not so much, since it means I have to give other people my money and I don't like doing that. If I had oodles of money, I'd love shoe-purchasing, too. They just don't undersand.

I know what you mean about the wide feet though - I've got them and I have to wear orthotics, so my size 6 feet end up in size 9 giant shoes of doom.

[identity profile] aliciam.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you tried Payless? Not the most upscale shoes in the world, but they're generally fairly good quality, and what wins me over with them is their extensive collection of wider shoes - I have the same problem as you, and that's about the only place short of the super-expensive stores where I've ever found lots of options in wider sizes.

[identity profile] nute.livejournal.com 2007-02-02 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Payless is where I usually go for casual/running shoes - they're about the only place with affordable (less than $100) shoes that'll fit my feet.

I sort of combination shop; mostly shoe envying, but with a good memory, so that when I go shoe SHOPPING I know where to hit first.

Like, right now I need a new pair of black sex-me-up heels and pair of gold heels. And I know that Steve Madden has some great black ones, but I'll have to snoop around for gold ones.

...I really enjoy shoes. I think you and I may be friends, yes. *nods wisely*

I also vote YES on the Payless shoes, actually.

And if not there, though they are more expensive, I also vote Naturalizer; we have an outlet for them here. They carry brands such as Nine West (which is my favourite work shoe; attractive but comfy) and often come in wide sizes. Really well built shoes.

doot (http://www.naturalizer.com/canada/retailers.asp?Province=ON&City=TORONTO&StoreType=).

(Considering I know where the Payless store(s) in your city are, I'm hoping you do too? Maybe? Their website is down atm, butyes.)

*nods* I mostly envy since I have very, very expensive taste. I can go into a shop and zero in on the one pair of shoes that costs over $500 and then have to try and find something that's as fantastic in my price range.

What sort of gold heels do you have in mind?

*grins* Shoes are good!
