R.I.P. JJ
One summer, possibly around Christmas/New Year's, some of my brother's Army mates came to visit with him. There was a BBQ and a late night on the piss, as we put it in Aussie-land, and we were amused the next morning to discover that one of the boys had wound up sleeping on the back lawn. That was JJ.
A couple of years ago, around the time my brother got engaged, we found out JJ had a brain tumour. Last night he passed away.
JJ loved life. He was a real ratbag, had a wicked sense of humour, worked hard and played hard. I always enjoyed talking to him when I saw him and his death is hard to take. I can't imagine what it's like for his friends and family.
