Busy, busy me.

Why yes, I am alive. *grins* Work's been kicking my butt for the past month or so, with the library inventory needing doing on top of my usual work. What library, you ask? Well, work has a small legal library attached to it. Back when we moved from Yonge Street to where we are now (two years ago, mind you) there wasn't the time or the manpower to arrange things properly or do an inventory. Since then, the whole thing's been in chaos. The new manager, Sonia, decided to fix things, and I got involved as a way of showing my team playerness in the face of new management pushing for it.

Our student was supposed to actually do the physical inventorying and I created an Excel spreadsheet to make sure everything was organised. Of course, in the process of double-checking the locations of everything, I discovered the student had skimped on his job and there were a lot of gaps. Gaps that needed filling. However, yesterday, Stage 1 has been officially completed - every book, binder and paper has been catalogued, its location noted and everything saved on the communal hard drive. Plus, a "for dummies" version created for the lawyers, in order for them to go through and let us know what needs keeping and what needs ditching.

We have a lot of books. I've been pulling some scary hours to get this all done.

Once we know what's being kept and what's being turfed/archived, things will be reorganised so it makes some actual sense. And I'll have to make sure I note where everything is going, so we don't have to do this again in another month.
