I'm meeeeellllting!

Oh what a world, what a world...

Ahem, nw I've gotten that out of my system, onto the day's events. Or non-events, seeing how up here in the counytru, life moves slow, y'know? (/country drawl).

I've had a pretty good day, after the late start. I didn't make it over to Albury, but I did hit Wodonga Plaza and picked up a fifty-pack of blank CDs for $35. Although that may not turn out to be such a good deal as the dud-rate is pretty high - I've had three fail on me so far. Two more and I'm taking them back for a refund - 10% failure rate is unexceptable. I'm logged onto the old computer, as the Book is busy burning - it seems to work better without distractions. And it could be the heat; I know I don't work well when I'm overheated. :P I still haven't gotten the parental prezzies, but I do know what to get the housemate (a pre-paid card for his mobile phone) and I'm calling/dropping in on the folks tomorrow to pick their brains over Christmas Plans - I stopped by on the way home today, but they were onl their way out, dreadful gadabouts. *grins*

The work lunch-thing went okay, even though we ended up in the Court Yard (the fenced-in area out the back of the courthouse) again. Paula and Rob (the prosecutor) were both too hungover to do much, and Pete was flat-out in the office all morning, leaving no-one to organise things, so we scrambled together some prawns and some stuff for the BBQ and a fruit and cheese platter, and sat out under the tree on a blanket and drank fizzy red wine until we felt fizzy ourselves. Or is that fuzzy? Any way, it was a good time, nice and quiet after the festivities of the police Christmas Party (which I didn't go to - police functions are notoriously sleazy) the night before. Paula also told me not to bother coming in on Monday, as she reckons there won't be enough work for two of us - I'll check with her on Monday morning, just to make sure. Murphy's Law dictates intervention orders descending in an avalanche.

I finished my Chrissie cards tonight, and mailed off the rest of my parcels - Dark Mark, Benway and Yasmin, something will arrive eventually. ;) The CD-inna-card thing is costing me only $1.50 to mail overseas, which is good; I have another seven to send tomorrow, provided the burning works and the post office is open. I'm guessing it will be, this close to Christmas.

Speaking of cards and stuff, Shai, I only have your old address. Can you send me your new one, ASAP?

Another CD down, another one in the burner. GOt myself quite the production line going. ;)

I still need to wrap my grandparents' bikkie tin and write out the 'voucher' to go with it. In the morning, I think. I'm all carded out.

Have pity on my neighbours - I've been going through the swag of CDs I got over AussieCon, and since I've been drinking, they're at high volume. Besides, The Watchmen are one of those bands that must be played loudly. They just don't sound right as mood music. They're another Canadian band re-discovered with the help of Andraste on the road trip up to Sydney. As soon as she put the CD on, I remembered seeing them play on Good News Week a while ago, and how I had wanted the CD but had forgotten about it - I do that a lot. So I found a cheap copy in the amazing book and CD place we found in George St, I think it was, in Sydney, and have been playing it loudly at intervals since.

Hmm, I wonder if IRCle is still working on this computer? Feel like a chat.
