Living out of a backpack...

Yep, just about to go an do the packing thing again - I'm off to that computer training tomorrow morning at some ungodly hour of the morning. I probably won't have access, so don't expect much in the way of communication from me until Friday evening (my time). It's a bit sucky, having to go off again so soon after getting home - like I was saying to Mum, there's a bunch of stuff I want to do, like sign up for the rock climbing club and call Julie and maybe see if David's around, but I havne't been in the same spot long enough to do it. And I always seem to need a day or two to let my brain catch up with the rest of me.

Quiet couple of days at work for my first week of full time - I miss out on the truly hellacious time by being at this training thing. And it looks like it's just going to be Paula and Peter - the new trainee at Wangaratta who was supposed to come to Wodonga tomorrow is sick. Not an auspicious start - there's speculation that she's not going to make it in the job. Still, turnabolut is fair play - Paula gets her turn at the training next week, and I get the court load, which is not quite as bad as tomorrow's, but still it's three days of court. And fairly solid sitting involved, too.

It was something of a nuffy day today - every nutter and their friends came in today, it seemed. It started with the Italian building contractor threatening the man he's suing - in front of Pete and the man's lawyer, no less - by telling him that if they were in Italy, they'd have settled the matter much quicker, and made the throat-cutting gesture. I think he broke his own record with the shouting too - he was barely in court two minutes and Paula and I could hear him going off. After that it was random strange people, stupid phone calls and the psycho woman with multiple intervention orders against her husband. She's actually claiming crimes compensation for trauma induced by her son coming home with a red mark on his face after an access visit. There's never been any finding that the kid was hit by his father, but it doesn't stop her from using it as an excuse for everything and anything.

I mean, I understand domestic violence. Bloody hell, I see it every day in my job. And you learn to get a feel for these kind of things. You can tell the serious situations from the vexatious ones, the women who are truly afraid and the ones who just want an extra bit of leverage in the Family Court. And this woman definitely has problems. Too bad they've ended up our problems too. Mind you, the husband is a bit weird himself.

I stopped by Mum and Dad's on the way home to check on arrangements for tomorrow (Dad's giving me a lift to the station) and for watering. Broke my dry spell with a bottle of Strongbow cider left in the fridge from Christmas - and I don't mean the little stubbies, either. This was a full-sized bottle. *sighs* My parents are a bad influence on me. But that's all sorted, and Dad wants to see LotR, and I have no objections to another viewing, so it looks like we might go see it on Saturday. *grins* This is sad. I'm such a Ring-Nerd. But I've only been waiting for this movie since I was fourteen and discovered there was only one part to the animated movie by the Italian guy whose name starts with "Z", I think.

Oh, and a treat in my mailbox, a Chrissie card from Threnny! *bounces* Late cards are fun, because you're not expecting them, and they're such a nifty surprise when all you're expecting is credit card bills and Post-Christmas Sale junkmail. I really need a "No Junk" sign, seriously. I keep forgetting to get one. But Threnny's card was cute, with snow and polar bears and lovely sentiments inside, and it made me smile, a lot. :) Like the rest of the cards and presents I got - I'm like a little kid again when I open the mailbox and find something non-bill-y for me in there. :)

So, that's me for a while - gotta go pack, and see what's left in the fridge to eat. Not much - there hasn't been much point in shopping since I've been away so much, so I've been living on remnants. And the Hamper O' Plenty. *grins*

See you in a few days.

Edit Yes, Threnny, they are polar bears. I had one of those weird brain freezes whilst typing. ;)
