Into the Wild

We're running a bit behind schedule, but sometime today Gerg and I are heading off on Road Trip 2. There's going to be some outdoorsy stuff, which means not much in the way of Net access, so if you don't hear from me for a couple of weeks, don't worry, I'm not dead.

The rough itinerary is as follows:

3/9/02 - Leave Toronto, drive to Tobermory *giggles at Womble memories* and catch the ferry to Manitoulin Island. This is the place where the Mounted Animal Nature Trial (the world's only taxidermy zoo) as made (in)famous by the Arrogant Worms is. Of course we're visiting it.

4/9/02 - Providing we can get off our butts nice and early (for 'us', read 'me')we're heading along the cost of Lake Superior to Thunder Bay. Gerg has a friend there we're staying with.

Now this is where my dates get a bit hazy...

Next stop after Thunder Bay after an amount of time I don't remember, we're heading for Fort Francis and the provincial parks in the area for some hiking, then to somewhere around Brandon, passing through Winnipeg. Then to Moose Jaw, which is essentially a place to break the drive across the plains, and then to Banff. We're planning about four or five days there to hike and such again, and then we're heading slightly more north to the Queen Charlotte Islands and the tip of Alaska, just to say we did.

We're planning to hit Vancouver after that, about two weeks after we leave today, whereupon pleas for sleeping space will be made to the appropriate people. :)

That's Leg One. The second leg takes us south to the US, through Portland and down to California. As far as I'm aware, we're not planning to hit LA proper (just enough to bug KJ and Dande, probably), but I will be flying out via LA (staying there for a week) November 22-29. Hope that clears up any confusion. :)

I'll keep working on the travelogue as we go, hopefully I'll be able to post from Thunder Bay the remaining adventures of Road Trip 1 and the sojourn in Toronto.

BTW, I have now got a dial-in acct as well as the school's LAN. TPG seem to be a good ISP: my package = $10/mth (80 Mb + 18c/Mb after that, capped @ $14-something extra - woohoo!) - lots of different account structures. Lots of different PsOP (Points of Presence - hazy about the plural . . . )

Eve is coming up to stay Weds and Thurs nights - doing some work for Wod. C.C. Going on an old car club thing next w/end to Corryong.

Due to technical difficulties - ie, Hotkey's roaming access software blows monkey chunks, according to Gerg - I have a nice long post trapped on my laptop. I'll try and get it online soon, but it's not looking good.
