Where there's smoke, there are fire alarms and evacuations...

Yep, the entire court was evacuated this morning when the incipient smoke in the air from the Canberra (and other NSW) and Victorian bushfires got into the ventilation ducts and set off alarms all over the place.

*grins* We staff assembled in our appropriate area in the Flagstaff Gardens and left our hapless clientele to mill around the front like confused sheep. Besides, if they'd had sense, they would have followed us. :P

Any hoo, large parts of southern Australia are on fire or have been. Fairly major tracts of Canberra's suburbs burned on Saturday, killing two people and destroying about 360-odd homes. There have been fires in my parents' area, in the mountains, which is good on a purely personal level because my family is definitely safe, but not so good for the national parks in that region and the ski resorts and tiny mountain towns. North of Sydney there are two major fires burning out of control. Melbourne is on water restrictions, as are a lot of places, because reservoir levels are at all-time lows. We've got ourselves a pretty major national drought happening here.

*looks around* Someone want to send us some rain? Kinda soonish?

Note: I've moved computers, so I have Internet access again. Which isn't good, as I've been horribly lazy today and there's a stack of document lodgement to be done. Bleah.

Note the Second: More Reality Strikes people should write. I require entertainment.

Phone?

Hey you,

Any idea as to when you'll have phone access once you move into your new place?

*grins* I feel like talking to a Rossi. :)

Hey, just recently something similar happened to me, which I've probably written about...the hotel in which we were getting orientation had a fire in it, and I ended up for a short bit on the local news, talking about the evacuation.

Suppose there's something going around?
