Monday, I have Friday on my mind...
Yes, it's time for the weekend round-up. I discovered I'm being charged icky amounts of money for going over-time on my internet access (and no, I haven't sorted that out yet, because I haven't had the money to), so I'm going to be logging on less at home and more here. Basically, I'll use the home account to post fic, and the work one for everything else, at least until I can get through to Optus and sort stuff out. I'm still dithering over the best ISP option, whether the phone/Net combo is a good deal or not. It'd be nice to get an ISP that doesn't drop out all the time and is faster than a snail on Valium, but I can't afford anything too flashy. Hopefully I'll sort that out this week.
Friday night was drinks after work in honour of one of our number who is off to Sunshine Court - we actually had lunch at Pugg Mahone's too, but the aircon was so high no-one stayed too long for fear of frostbite. Legal's, the cafe/bar next door to the building I'm in (which houses the Supreme and County court rooms, plus the Public Advocate's Office and ourselves), has happy hour from 5-6 on Fridays - $3 Crown Lagers and free nibbles. I spent my $6 that I'd allowed myself - yes, the money situation has been that bad - and was bought another by Steve, the guy who was playing the "describe the random person" game with me a couple of weeks ago, and then he and another co-worker talked me into going to the Colonial, another pub down on King St. There were a lot of clerks going to be there, and after Steve promised to buy me beer (my excuse was I was too broke to drink if I went), I let myself be talked into it. This also involved leaving Cecil (the bike) at work, so I've been bike-less all weekend. Not a big deal, as it turned out, with the weather the way it was.
Anyway, it's off to the Colonial. Which was fun - I got to break someone's brain talking about the Iraq situation and refugees and how the government can't be trusted as far as you can kick them; and there was also dancing - but then I intervened in a situation between a couple of people. Mind you, what else could I do? There's this bloke, dragging a girl through the crowd by her wrists towards the door (which turned out to be locked, in the end), and she's struggling to make him let go. So of course I'm going to step in. It turns out later (like today) that the bloke was a barrister, so I'm glad I didn't actually lay hands on him - I was just trying to talk him into letting her go. They eventually moved off into another part of the crowd, where Steve tells me the bouncers got involved. It seems the guy had been caught having an affair by his fiance (the girl), and she was understandably upset.
This little incident scared me a bit - while it's very noble to assist a damsel in distress, it goes against all my training to intervene in a situation when there's bouncers around to deal with it - and I realised that I'd had quite a bit more to drink than was safe. And considering the other thing I do when I'm drunk, I figured it was time to go home, which is what I did.
Saturday - woke up pretty late and pretty seedy, and got myself together enough to do some basic cleaning and to wash my gi for training on Monday - it got muddy footprints on it at the demo - before Phil rocked up to look for furniture places. Not much luck, so we ended up at Bridie O'Reilly's for a few beers and watched the rain come teeming down. *bounces* Looks like autumn is here, and is going to be a rainy one for us. Which is great after the past couple of years of nothing.
Sunday was pretty quiet. Found myself in something of a funk - no real reason, just backlash from the job rejections, I suppose, plus some other stuff that's been bothering me lately - but I did manage to write quite a bit of the next Constantine chapter (almost done) and make myself pasta for dinner. A very quiet evening - I ended up going to bed at 9.30 because there wasn't anything else for me to do.
I really need to sort out that Optus thing - I need the cheaper long distance rates before I start calling people too much.
Forgot my access card for work today - I'll have to borrow one from someone when I go for lunch. At least I've worked out if I don't eat until 3pm, I can get cut-price sushi from the place down the road. I've been drinking lots of water today, mainly because I think one of the reasons why I'm so tired and out-of-sorts is because I've been neglecting it and getting dehydrated. It would certainly explain the queasy stomach I had this morning.
Training tonight - another thing to throw me out of the funks.

Well, now you've caught my attention. ;)
Oh? And what might that be? *raises eyebrow interestedly* ^_^

Eep! *ducks and hides*

Hmmm...
You've piqued my curiosity...
*hugs tight* And don't let life get you down. Wish there was something I could do to help with the blahs, but alas, that's kind of hard from half the world away. Just know that I think you rock. :)
And now, off to work. Whee. Or something. ;-)

(what do you mean I can't do that if I'm not American?)
