Thank goodness tomorrow is court day - I'll have stuff to do that isn't revocations. Apparently I'm too bloody fast. :P

Talk to me, people. How was your weekend, what are you doing right now, wax lyrical about your favourite movie, anything. Actually, that's a thought, starting a short meme - what's your favourite movie(s) and why?

Am hoping to sustain business long enough to go home earlyish, as I skipped lunch. If you didn't have karate tonight, I'd say call me now.

Had interesting weekend,b have much to tell you.

Am also hungry, and possibly too broke to get to work tomorrow.

Favorite Movies

My Dinner with Andre... because you can examine the movie from so many different ways and getting something totally different out of it each time.

I have a new favorite movie, even though I'm only half way through it.
I keep getting interupted *gurrr*
'Rozencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead', it's possibly one of the weirdest films i've ever liked.
(not 'seen', but that was too weird to talk about...traumatic)
The two characters (i'm not sure if they qualify for 'main' characters) are as confused as the viewer as to whats going on, 'Hamlet' in small manegable pieces, proof that you can be weird, funny and clever at the same time!

Whats yours?

I think . . .

that it is LA Confidential. I'm not positive because I tend to waver a lot in the favourite movie stakes but I always seem to go back to that one.

Wildly, wickedly, fascinatingly twisted with a plot that expects the audience to have a brain AND keep up. Saw it four times at the movies and many times on video since and still adore it shamelessly.

LotR may pass it when it is completed. There are many others which all have their good points but if you absolutely must tie me down LAC it is.

Two for right now:

L. A. Story, because it reminds me of home and I just got a new DVD of it, with extra features. It also defines a quintessential LA life, as filtered through a silly lens. ^_^

His Girl Friday, because it defines the kind of relationship I want to have someday: full of wit, love, and laughter.

Favorite movie would have to be "The Rock" - directed by Michael Bay, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Just those two facts together make me happy, but the film itself is amusing, full of action, and doesn't have a damn thing to say about social commentary, life in general, the state of relationships in the "missing generation", or anything resembling witty satire. It's got lots of explosions, cool pan-around camera shots, and it's even fun enough to make me sit through Sean Connery in a lead role instead of the Supporting Actor position that he should be permanently nailed to. And I mean literally nailed. Like to a cross. Connery could be cast as Jesus and he wouldn't bother trying to learn a new accent. "Today, I shay to you, you schall be witsch me, in Paradishe."

So yeah, favorite movie.

My favourite movie is mostly Guys and Dolls, a very entertaining musical starring Frank Sinatra (who sings very well, don'tchaknow), Marlon Brando (who sings less well, but that's what editing's for and he's very pretty) and Jean Simmons (who also sings less well, but acts up a storm).

I like it because it's very funny in places, because the song writing is extremely clever (particularly the opening song) and it's almost painfully romantic, watching Sky Masterson (Brando) and Sarah Brown (Simmons) falling in love over bacardi-and-milks in Havana. Plus, the dancing in 'Luck be a Lady' is hot.

Guys and Dolls is my comfort food.

I think currently my fav movie is Pirates of the Caribbean, just for the way Johnny Depp acts in it. And I will always, always love, The Three Muskateers. Just for the witty dialogue. And of course Porthos, every movie needs a Porthos. :D

Another favorite is Mystery Men. It's almost like they took my gaming group and made a movie about them.
