Happy little tool of the consumer conspiracy...

Today I finally got my act together enough to get my butt down to somewhere I could purchase at least a decent mattress. Because my back is starting to give my ultimatums of the sort that go: "You make me sleep on that fucking sofa bed another week, and I'm going to cripple you for life."

I think my back has been talking to the fictives in my head again - it's sounding remarkably John Constantine-ish.

Any way, I met [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] in Brunswick for lunch at the Comfortable Chair (I had the Never-Ending Omlette of Doomy Goodness), and then we went and found me a mattress. For a bit of money, but dammit, when your back starts using the Constantine voice, it's time to listen. I also succumbed and got myself a nice shiny multi-region DVD player (since my LotR extended version DVDs are Canadian and won't play in anything non-multi-region), for the princely sum of $80. I even picked up the cable and adaptor I needed to get TV reception. *grins* So I'm all technological and stuff.

Mattress gets delivered on Tuesday afternoon. I shall be arranging the afternoon off to be here to get it. The other thing that will be arriving in another couple of weeks are my Firefly DVDs, which I finally got around to ordering from Amazon.ca. Which was the other reason I had to get a DVD player. Obsessive goodness shall be had. :)

I went to the movies last night with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] (part of the continuing campaign to Have Fun Without Drinking - "hi, my name's Rossi, I'm not an alcoholic and it's been a week since my last drink") and saw One Perfect Day. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], you have to see this somehow - it's perfect Manny fodder. *grins* Story wasn't anything earth-shatteringly unique, but the music was just amazing, the performances were all really strong (a bunch of young up-and-coming Aussie actors I hadn't heard of before and Taylor from Falafel as an opera company director, it was a hoot), and the film techniques freshly but not annoyingly novel. Give me another couple of weeks and I'll be seeing it again. And buying the soundtrack on Monday.

And lastly, since it is All About Me, one of those memes:

How did you first hear of/meet me?

Where and when did you first hear of my name/see my work/'meet' me? With what people/series/groups etc. do you associate me and my writing? This is not a praise or feedback meme, this is just to track the path of my online presence and to see the connections involved, to find out how people link together.

Seraph and I saw the preview for One Perfect Day while I was down there. Immediately upon return, pimped it to Redhawk as the Manuel movie. :) One up on ya, Rossi.

Don't remember when I first saw your name/hear of you, but probably #kjcorner or OTL, like you said. Fic-wise, it's really nifty original characters and John Constantine and Amanda. *grins* In person? Trinity with wings. *nods* Who makes a good pillow.

I was at the comfortable chair on Wednesday evening... I am guessing that wasn't the night you were there?
