Actual news.

So, I actually have something to post about. Wow. *grins*

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I went down to Hobart (Tasmania, for the non-geographically-adept) this weekend to visit [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. We flew down on Thursday evening after I finished work (and the flight takes less time than it takes for me to catch the train to Wodonga, huh...) and after getting picked up from the airport we did the Thai food and the purchasing of a few drinks to fuel the inevitable talk fest. *grins* We ended up sleeping sometime around two, I think.

Friday morning was the scenic thing, or at least the intended scenic thing. Amanda drove us up to Mount Wellington, which overlooks Hobart, and there was supposed to be wonderful views. Only thing is, this being Tasmania in June (coldest state in Australia, and June being winter), there was cloud and rain and sleet and eventually snow. Which was novel in its own way, especially for me. I like snow.

So, after freezing ourselves, we headed off to this fantabulous rock climbing gym Amanda knows and climbed until we couldn't climb any more. And I got most of the way (two holds short) up a bastard of a climb that involved wedging my leg in a gap since there weren't that many holds. So proud. *beams*

After that, Amanda took us to a place called Taco's, where they have margaritas served by the glass, by the fishbowl, and by the litre jug (served with a straw). And the fishbowl is just that, a lot of margarita. There was tipsiness afterwards. And, after getting home, there was Chez Geek adn attempts at Firefly watching, only there had been way to much margarita. ;)

Saturday... was a lazy-ish day. Amanda had invited some school people over that night for a card night, so we went and got supplies, and then settled in to indoctrinate Amanda into the Firefly cult. Quite successfully, I might add. *grins* I get another feather in my pimping hat. ;)

Card night was fun - Amanda's colleagues are an interesting bunch of people, and a good night was had by all. It was also a late night, which wouldn't have been so bad except there was a ten am flight back the next day. Needless to say there was nappage on my part on the plane.

So, that was my weekend. I had a good time, saw Amanda, which was great, and have vowed to go back to Hobart in summer so we can do the bush walking thing. And being on a plane has fired up my enthusiasm for Dexcon - only a month to go. Must go buy my tickets this week.

BTW, I'm in Canada from (hopefully) June July 23rd to September 17th. Mainly because I really need a break. So, yay. :)

*looks at calender*

Oooookay, there are four ways to explain the above.

1) Rossi meant to type July 23.

2) Rossi is currently in Canada. Though, since she has been in Canada since last Wednesday, she has managed to bi-locate herself to Tasmania this weekend for the above carousing.

3) Rossi has gotten her hands on a time machiene and plans to use it to extend her vacation in spite of the damage it will cause the space-time continuum. Be on the lookout for a pissed off, guy hopping out of a blue police box sometime soon. ;)

*hugs* I'm really looking forward to seeing you at DexCon, love! I need to party to the brink of being arrested by the police.

As you can see, studying for boards is frying my brain...

4) Our friends in the Southern Hemisphere have voted to switch June and July on the calender.

Ooo!

Can I be the one to sucker punch the annoying companion? PLEASE! I'd give up my membership badge to Pacifists R Us for the chance to do that.

Have fun, love. Just make sure it's not one of the rare ones that can actually fight back. :)

*grins*

See, the one companion I actually liked was Ace, because she was damn cool and actually fought back.

*grins*

It sounds like you had a great time down in tassie. Last time i visited was way back in 1978 I think....LOL....I hope to get back down there sometime in the next few years.

And you will absolutely LOVE Canada. I was there in 1996 and travelled around a fair bit. Where are you going to? And are you simply visiting someone again, or touring, or what are you planning on doing?

Toronto was one of my favourite places when i was there....I think I was a little homesick, and they have trams there and on the edge of the water, and sports fanatics, so it really reminded me a lot of Melbourne.

I woulda loved to do the road trip...you are so lucky....have a great time, and keep all of us suckers filled in through here please....

I'll be in the Toronto area for some of that time because my cousin's getting married on September 8th and I'm probably going to fly up the weekend before for my cousin's bridal shower and my grandfather's 90th birthday. I would totally love to hang out with you and eat at that faboo Thai place near Chez Dex (if they haven't moved by then) and get drunk with you and spend the night talking. Lots to catch you up on, and I don't have your email address.

So did you get the email I sent with my proposed itinerary?
