It's just the way people ask, completely confused and bewildered. Like there's no other food in the world than meat. *shakes head* Strange people.

The really awful one? ANd one day all the babies went away.... Not again. It's too. Too quietly scary for me.

I don't know how you are on the fake meat stuff - the tofu pretending to be meat stuff, but there's this restaurant in West Melbourne, the White Lotus, that's vegan and does all tofu and vegie dishes. Pretty good except they do a lot of that dodgy fake meat stuff, too.

*laughs* I get that ALL THE TIME. Or, in my case, I get, "But you eat fish, right?" And I say, "no. If it was alive, I don't eat it." And, invariably, they say, "So, you eat fish?" And all I can think is, "..." which isn't much. ;-D
