Up and running
So, I've spent a good chunk of today setting up stuff on the new computer, transferring things over and gradually getting used to stuff. I ended up using my iPod as a mini-drive to move the music files over, and everything else I used my .Mac account which I got as part of the system. That, btw, lets me set up a webpage without the pesky domain finding issues and learning html and all the rest. *grins* So I've got somewhere apart from LJ to keep pictures and stuff.
But yeah, been busy. Of course, today is the day I'm supposed to be social, since I've had more people telling me not to spend all day on the computer since I moved here. Murphy, you suck. *grins*
There's a lot of stuff I still need to go through on this thing, many many shiny new applications and the rest, plus I still need to upload Photoshop and Microsoft Office (for Macs) and get rid of one or two things I'll never use, like the test version of Office. ;) But we're up and running, and I have iChat operating relatively smoothly and for the first time I don't have a million cables trailing everywhere - wireless for me now, baby!
Oh, and for the geeks who asked. Namely [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. The specs:
Hardware Overview:
Machine Name: MacBook
Machine Model: MacBook1,1
CPU Type: Intel Core Duo
Number Of Cores: 2
CPU Speed: 2 GHz
L2 Cache (shared): 2 MB
Memory: 512 MB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB11.005F.B00
Serial Number: 4H6192VBU9C
SMC Version: 1.4f8
Screen's the 13.3 inch widescreen and man is it brighter than the old one.
Speaking of Brittney, she's going to a good home - Mindy needs a computer and since I wasn't going to be making any money on a tradein of a five year old iBook, I'm going to pass her along. So yeah, not entirely neglected.
And now to dump music onto my iPod in some sort of order. Maybe that I'll do that at the pub with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], now I have a battery that lasts more than half an hour. ;)
Did I mention I have five programs open and nary a pause? *yays*
