What one movie could you watch over and over until the end of time?

Argh, this one always changes... Right now, and likely for the next year or so, I think Stardust. It's a combination of romance that isn't cloying, comedy that isn't cringe-worthy, and true swashbuckling drama. Basically, it's fun.

That one's easy. Lord of the Rings. It was the first ever fantasy book I read, and since the age of thirteen until moving to Canada, I've read it once a year. Think I'm due again, although I have a lot of new books to read first. :)

Not sure how 'sooper-sekritest' this is, but... instant ramen. Absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever, the height of crap food for the sake of eating, but I love them. Especially when I'm sick or tired - it's easy instant food!

I used to eat it a lot in college, and have quite a bit up in the top of the pantry, but I don't eat it much anymore. Hm. Maybe I'll have some with my lunch.

What's one talent you wish you had, that you do not currently possess?

The ability to draw/paint and for it to be more than stick figures. A lot of what I write stems from particular mental images, and words can't always do them justice.

That or the ability to download the movies/pictures/etc straight out of my head. ;)

Heh! I have the exact same thought sometimes. I wish I could just download the images from my head. I've taken up amateur photography as a way of sort of doing something about the desire.

What do you like best about living in North America?

The fact it's easier to see more of my friends (although I regret not being able to hang out with the Aussies any more :( ). And snow. I love snow - it really brings home the fact I'm in another country.

What makes you happiest?

Um, this is a hard one, mainly because there are a lot of things that make me happy, and I know whatever I say is going to be a really good signpost to how I think.

It's down to two things, actually. Being with friends in a situation where there's no pressure, no demands, and I can relax entirely knowing I'm 'safe'. And achieving something, especially something that's taken work, and knowing I did good. Like reaching the top of a particularly tricky climb, or writing something I'm proud of and which people respond to.

What's the one food that you miss now that you don't eat meat because it likes to try and make you miserable? ;)

Heh. There's lots of times I regret the meat thing, mainly when feeding me is problematic. In terms of food I miss... Mum's roast lamb with the rosemary and garlic and lots of gravy. It was always fantastic and now would kill me dead because it's a) meat and b) incredibly rich meat.

If you could build a secret hideout (just for you), anywhere in the world or universe, where would it be? Assuming money and even the laws of physics aren't an obstacle.

*grins* I'd have a little cottage on the Queen Charlotte Islands, up near Agate Beach. Somewhere warm and cozy in winter, and where I could grow herbs and vegetables, putz around with the writing, cycle, swim, and hike. And eat blackberries straight off the bush as I was hiking. :)

London: A Biography by Peter Ackroyd. I haven't finished it yet, since it's a huge brick of a book, but it's fascinating reading.
