I forgot...

...the downside to moving is that you have to carry all your stuff down a flight of stairs, put it in the car, drive over to the new house and then carry it inside and down into the basement.

My bruise collection is impressive already and I have aches where I didn't even think I had muscles. Sod this getting old for a lark - ten years ago I would have been up and down our apartment's stairs like a over-enthusiastic Golden Retriever.

Ah well. It needs doing, so it will be done. I'm sorting out more boxes today and we can switch carrying to packing for a little bit.

Sweetie, I'm that ten years and hurt like a mother this morning. You were also just crazy fit then. Taking a "day off" to sort stuff out and pack is a good thing... and not just because I'm smacking down the urge to panic. ;)

I think when Twiller and I did our emergency move, we were up to 2 showers a day some days, just to get the muscles to stop twitching. Also truly absurd amounts of water - I think we both went through about a gallon each a day, just because all that non-stop lift-carry-set down-lift-carry-set down is more dehydrating than it seems and cardboard sucks all the water out of your hands.

I count myself exceptionally lucky, especially with this last move. I did ... about half the packing. My mom the organizational wizard did the other half, then she hired her lawn guys to come help carry the heavy stuff, as well as my friend Drew, my dad drove the UHaul (because not being able to see out the back terrifies me, despite being a badass at backward-parking them), then my mom and my friend Jared put together all my new bookshelves while Jared's one-year-old "helped" me organize by stacking and unstacking Tupperware and handing me my shoes (it was very cute).
