I like getting such feedback, too, as long as the writer doesn't confuse *me* with my writing.

On one memorable occasion, someone said she wouldn't want to be in a room with me without a knife to fend me off.

And in comparison to my writing *today*, the story she was commenting on was fairly tame.

*grins* This reminds me of Xander's impression of me as a cynical, hard-bitten, hard-drinking, chain-smoking journalist. Not even close to the truth, but amusing nonetheless. My Inner Bastard, I suppose.

It's interesting, the sort of stories people produce. Some write what you'd expect them to write, from your perceptions of them - most don't. And then there's the range within a particular writer - I'm sure that someone who knows me for my early GenX fluff or Subreality stories would be taken aback by the graphic violence of "Suffer the Children".
