"Every day's like Sunday..."
May. 26th, 2002 12:22 pmI met up with someone I haven't seen for a very, very long time this weekend.
My sixteen-year-old self.
Ever since I left home, there's been this one Army trunk of my stuff left behind with Mum and Dad. I've never had the space to take it back, and so it and its contents have sat quietly in their garage since 1989. Well, I finally got it around here - now I have the place to myself, I have space to spare - and I was going through the contents yesterday whilst nursing a hangover, courtesy of my mum and two bottles of fizzy white wine. And three stubbies of Strongbow. *shakes head* I deserved that headache.
Any way, the trunk is full of stuff I laid away, mostly from my Japan trip - a kimono, fans, various gifts... But there's also old school essays and stories, the letters I wrote home (which I should give back to Mum, since she's the one who put them in there), the flowers I carried at my debutante, photo albums (including the school pics complete with scary Eighties hair *laughs*), old toys... Quite the trip down memory lane.
I didn't realise quite how much I'd kept - I don't tend to be much of the pack rat. I'll be possibly tossing some things out - as much as I can without Mum having a go at me (she's a hoarder) - and packing the rest for storage with the rest of my stuff.
Getting on for two months to go - yikes! I'd better start doing that orgainising thing I'm supposed to be so good at. ;)
