I've been listening to the Whitlams again tonight, and it struck me, as it does periodically, that no-one writes lyrics like these guys. And the Lucksmiths. And Neil Finn. *grins* Actually, it's one of the reasons why I'm such an Aussie music junkie - the lyrics can say so much with so little, and rhyme too. ;)
Work was... work. Made more entertaining by Mel and Amanda and Seraph and Wondermouse emailing me. *grins* I get weird at work, as they can attest to. Court tomorrow, which may or may not involve me sitting in it - there's a two-day committal for trial on, and I'm not trained in that area. But the phone call we got today may scotch that - the barrister for the defendant thought it was only a day-long matter and is double-booked for the second day. We might just start it any way.
Paula was pretty grumpy today - no repeats of events a couple of months ago, but still not fun to work with. We're going to sweeten her up tomorrow with cake and a card - it was her birthday last Saturday. But I can understand her feelings, if not the way she prjects them - we're both desperately fed up with the job. Actually, a large chunk of my dissatisfaction this past year has come from working with not one, but two burned-out people. I never hear anything good about the job all day, so it's no wonder I'm desperate to get out.
Speaking of which, got my official knock-back for the CDPP job. My leave did get in the way, which was frustrating, but understandable. And I was told to reapply in the future when I'm not overseas, next time something comes up. So, Amanda, you're going to have to be my hotline to the Gazette during the Walkabout. :)
*sings* "There's a girl I know, want to take her around the world..."
