I work as a deputy registrar in the PERIN Court. In English, that means I process applications to revoke summary fines - parking tickets, speeding fines, traffic camera offences like driving through red lights, the occasional local council fine like Dog At Large (sounds like a film *chuckles*), EPA matters, etc. Anything for which you can get a fine in the mail without going to actual court. In circumstances where a person feels the fine is unfair or invalid, or they didn't actually commit the offence, they fill in a statutory declaration expressing their grievance and we (meaning the registrars) consider it.
The application in question is a speedning fine. The car is registered in one person's name, and since the fine was from a speeding camera, the police have used the registration details to issue the fine. However, the car was driven by the person's daughter, and they're trying to nominate her. However, in the box marked "I was NOT the driver...", they've written the car owner's name, not the actual driver's - twice. I'm sending it back again - third time lucky.
The wonderful world of PERIN
