If you replace Cricket with Hockey, you described my childhood. That being said, I don't think I am going to let my kid do half the things I did. It is only through dumb luck I survived. I'll let him/her build a soap box racer, but I will check for breaks. (I should tell you my experience with Dead Man's Hill one of these days.) oh and helmets, I'm all for helmets... and skinned knees.
