Life's small pleasures.
Feb. 8th, 2002 09:25 pmOne of the things about the title character in Amelie is that she cutlivates enjoyment of small pleasures, like skimming stones on the canal and dipping her hands into sacks of grain. I had one of those kinds of afternoons. :) We (meaning Peter, Paula, Rob the prosecutor and I) went to the pub next door for lunch and had a glass or two of very passable red wine. I went to the fruit and veg place for some bits and pieces and had a nice chat about cycling with the lady that works there. When I got home, I went out into the garden (which has been neglected lately as it's been raining quite a bit) and picked the first two ripe capsicums and restaked the tomatoes and then I mowed the grass. In bare feet, which was a bit silly of me, but I love the feel of cool green grass under my feet and between my toes. I tend to garden in bare feet too, makes it easier to not step on things in my over-loaded patch. :) And once I'd tided the garden up a bit and mowed and raked the grass up (it's a hand mower without a catcher) and done what I wanted to do, I came back in and had a nice long bath with lavender oil in the water and shaved my legs. So when I finally came to the computer, I was feeling very relaxed and congenial towards the world in general. And there was another treat in store, several LJ comments from my karate friend Wondermouse, who I've not seen in what seems to be a donkey's age. So I'm feeling very satisfied with my little life right now. :)
