Regular readers of my LJ know that I'm one for plans, for arranging things and savouring the time leading up to them. I love that sense of anticipation, the jitters you get in your stomach when you think about the upcoming treat. But there's something else I love more, perhaps because I plan a lot of the things I do.

Surprises. Completely out-of-the-blue, unexpected, knock-me-over-with-a-feather surprises.

I think it's because it indicates that someone is thinking about me, and not only that, but wanting to do something for/with me enough to just go ahead and do it. It soothes all those feelings of unimportance and worthlessness that tend to cling when I'm feeling down. Stupid and ill-founded, I know, and I'm working on it, believe me, but it's a long habit to break.

Any way, on to my surprises. Yes, plural. Today was a vary surprising kind of day. :)

First of all, when I got home today (with a puncture that I couldn't fix, since I didn't have a spare tube after the puncture last week, dammit!), there was this wonderfully large post-pack box sitting on my desk. From a Yasmin, no less. After wrestling with the fuzzy packing stuff that had developed a case of static cling to rival Magneto, I found all sorts of goodnesses. Top of the list (and currently in the CD player) is the first volume of Andrew Denton's Musical Challenge. Another mix of brain-bending combinations (The Wiggles doing ACDC, Gina Jeffries a country singer and a Radiohead song) done frighteningly well. I'm in love with the Screaming Jets version of "My Heart Will Go On." Definitely will be a feature of the next GASP. ;)

Also the ultimate in fanfic-made-good The Wide Sargasso Sea and another lizard (this one pocket-sized!) for the collection, made of beads, and a prosperity charm. Oh, and Yas, you know how the character on the card is called Rossi? Well, on the front he's wearing denim overalls, and guess what I was wearing when I opened the box? More spooky coincidence. Think I'll have to make Serendipity my code name. ;)

Yasmin, you are a goddess and I am going to hug you into unconsciousness next time I see you.

The other surprise was something I won't go into a lot of detail over, except to say David took advantage of my telling him BRM wasn't home this evening (at least until fifteen minutes ago) and turned up on my doorstep totally out of the blue. And I'm feeling much more relaxed now than I was earlier.

Any way, that's the edited highlights of my day. At some point I'll have time for more than chat posts and address something a bit more meaty, but not tonight. I'm starving.
