deathpixie: (lizard)
Home early today, despite the travelling back from Corryong because we managed to finish up early today and after a rather pleasant lunch with the magistrate and a couple of the solicitors and Peter at the Koetong Pub (tiny little hamlet on the way back), I'm feeling rather mellow and at peace with the world in general. I dunno, maybe it's the combination of a quiet night last night, a definitely less-stressful (as in practically none) day at work today, the fact the courtroom in Corryong actually has natural lighting, being so old and being designed in the time before electricty (yes, that) old, and getting home early, but any way, I'm feeling less blah than I have the rest of the week. And no, no alcohol is involved at all. ;) Whatever it is, it's a good feeling and I'm going to savour it. Maybe even extend it with a bath tonight. I got this yummy smelling citrus bubble bath a few weeks ago and I haven't used it yet.

The drive to and from Corryong is really nice - it's up in the mountains, set in this rather pretty valley, and this morning the paddocks were transformed into some kind of faerieland, with cobwebs bejewelled by the dew and shimmering in the rising sun, and mist rising from the wet grass in curls and wisps. And the light was that pale gold, like some kind of photographhic effect. From the road, at the top of the pass, you can look out across the mountains and see Falls Creek on one side, Mt Bogong on the other, smudged blue like a child's drawing of the far horizon. I decided as I went up the street from the court during a break to pay the electricity bill that one day I'd like to spend the weekend in one of the B&Bs nearby, with their gardens full of old fashioned cottage flowers and comfy chairs set on the wide verandahs. One day.

So, yeah, I've had a nice day. It's a pity Corryong runs so infrequently - I do enjoy working there, even if I have to get up before the sun does.

*snickers* One of our 'clients' had to have his matter adjourned - he was too drunk to understand proceedings or give his lawyer instructions. He's got to come down to Wodonga next week. But he was most amusing, giving the court an elaborate curtsey as he left, and complimenting the magistrate on his beard (he kinda looks like a rotund Ned Kelly). In the end I couldn't look at him without bursting into giggles, so I busied myself with the tape deck (note: one thing I don't like about Corryong is the tape recording equipment. It's clunky and hard to tell if it's running or not). *grins* The atmosphere at Corryong is always a lot friendlier, more informal, but this was getting ridiculous. We'll see him again on Thursday at Wodonga, hopefully in better condition.

So, that was my day. How was yours?
