Lateline rocks...
Mar. 19th, 2002 10:51 pmI'm watching Paul Lyenam (sp?) slowly tear strips off Phil Ruddock (the minister responsible for our detention centres for 'illegal immigrants') over the detention of children and the severe psychological effects it's having on them. And there's something so satisfying watching that arsehole stutter and stammer and get defensive. He's wrong, he knows he's wrong, and eventually he's going to have to follow in hhis leader's footsteps and admit it.
It hasn't been a good week for the government. The Gnome was forced to backpedal over the Justice Rigbye affair - Senator Heffernan has publically apolgised (at Howard's demand) and withdrawn his accusations after his 'evidence' was found to be false - after earlier this week stating that he would stand by his very good Mate Heffernan. There's still fall out over the "Children Overboard" affair. Public confidence in the government is dropping faster Dubya's trousers when he wants little Johnny to pucker up and kiss his arse. And the Greens recently won a landslide victory in the local government elections in one of the councils of Melbourne, which has little to do with the Liberals and a lot to do with Labour and the way the electorate perceives the party, but I thought it was nifty any way.
But Lateline is exactly that, late, and I have court tomorrow. Lots and lots of court. I just hope the air conditioning's fixed or we're going to have one very shitty magistrate. And his bench clerk won't be far behind. ;)
Night all. Take care.
