I don't like Mondays...
Jun. 16th, 2003 02:38 pmWell, this week could have started better...
I need to get a track pump, quickly. Because inflating high pressure (100 psi) tyres with a hand pump is utterly impossible. For a start you don't get sufficient air in, you exhaust yourself fighting the pump, and then your struggles rip the valve off, resulting in an instant and irrevocable flat. And guess which I did this morning? You guessed it - I had to call in, get changed into my work gear (which is so not cycling-friendly), and then race down to catch the tram. And since I have karate training at 5pm, I've had to work through my lunchtime in order to leave at a time that will get me there.
Upon arriving at work, I found Michael, the no-good computer techie, had finally fixed my computer after three weeks of not telling me a damn thing. Only he'd only done half the job - he hadn't reset everything, and I couldn't log on. So I had to wander around looking for another place to sit (difficult today, as we have a full house), eventually taking Tim's desk because he was working counter. After Tim tried to bully me into working the counter instead, when I did my stint last week. Arsehole. He made such a big production of logging off and 'clearing' the desk for me - when he would have had to do that any way - I almost said, "Fine, I'll find somewhere else." Only Deb, my supervisor, was there and told him not to be such a jerk.
*grrs* Okay, got that out of my system. And listening to Coldplay has helped.
I've somehow managed to keep up with a trend - this weekend, three of us PERIN people dyed our hair. So things were kind of amusing this morning. Reports are favourable, so far - people like the brown. I just need to go get it cut now, since it's falling into my eyes too much again.
GASP was great. My kitchen table looks like I've robbed a comic store, what with all the books and trades and DVDs and such. I have a huge pile of stuff to read, including Nightwatch (thanks
_bounce_!), a couple of books from
pollymel and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s Astro City trades, which will be more of a re-read. *grins* I've finally got the place put back together, although I've put off cleaning the shower more than beyond a squirt with the cleaning goo and letting it soak in. The rest is all good, though, which makes the neat freak in me (decidedly less strong than in years gone by, but still present), very happy.
I think I ODed on Buffy yesterday. I was watching [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s DVDs of Season 4, catching up on stuff before he takes the DVD player back, and man, did I have the most bizarre dreams involving the cast. Still, I've got some more ideas for the "where Oz went after leaving Willow" fic that visited me during Walkabout, and I'm looking forward to writing it.
Eventually. Once I get Death and the Art... done.
Speaking of which, must sit down the next few evenings and get the damn thing done. I've had the ending pretty much plotted in my head for the past four weeks, but haven't had the time to write it down - that's what having a social life will do to you. *grins*
Oh, and wish my Dad luck. He's in Canberra the next couple of days protesting against Government cuts to war veteran pensions. I'll provide a link later.
Better go - we're busier than a one-armed coathanger here today.
