Miscellaneous
Jul. 12th, 2003 06:45 pmSo, it occurred to me today (on reading old feedbacks and seeing references to FF.Net), that updating my browser might solve my perrenial uploading problem with Fanfiction.Net, and what do you know, I was right. So I've uploaded what can technically be called a shitload of fics, not just comic but Buffyverse and my one LotR fic. More for safekeeping than anything - until I get off my butt and learn how to make a webpage of my own, the only place all my stories are collected is here on my hard-drive, which isn't perhaps the safest thing. I need to burn them onto disk as well, just to make sure. Of course, the fact I might possibly get reviews has nothing to do with it.
Well, maybe. *grins*
I've been seeing references to Dexcon formal dresses, which reminded me I've signed up for the Clerk of Courts dinner this year (I've missed the last few with being overseas), and I need to either get a new dress (which may require my losing some of the 5 kilos I've put on since starting on the B12), or a pair of shoes to go with the silvery-green one I already have. I'd wear the LBD (little black dress), only I wore it to the last Dinner, and even though that was a few years ago, people will probably remember it. I'll probably go with shoes - a nice shiny silver pair like the ones I borrowed from Amanda for the last Dexcon dinner.
On my way back after shopping I stopped in at the Brotherhood second-hand shop near my house, and picked up an ironing board for $5, plus two books for another $5. I'm finding I'm reading more, and need more books as a result. It's something to do with the eating alone in restaurants I do sometimes (last night I stopped at the Indian place nearby and had a wonderful meal) - I feel less obvious if I have a book with me. Especially when the waiter asks if you're waiting for someone, because people don't eat alone on Friday nights. Well, since it's just me, yes, I do eat alone, those meals I don't feel like making for myself. Maybe I should find myself a blow-up date. ;)
Hmm, I've been online a fair while, updating stuff. I think I oughth to get off and go make dinner, and after that, I have a date with a grumpy, annoying Englishman in a trench coat. No, not Phil - I have plans to finish Death and the Art of Pyramid Selling tonight, provided I don't turn the TV on. Tis sad, spending my Saturday with a fictional character, but hey, I am a geek. It's expected of me. ;)

Let the record show, that as of 10pm on Saturday the 12th of July 2003, I finished the last chapter of "Death and the Art of Pyramid Selling". I've sent it off for betaing, so it will be a few days before it's posted, but to all intents and purposes, it's done. Final word count comes to 24,188 words. Ye gods.
