Objects in Space
Mar. 17th, 2004 09:40 pmI'm rewatching Firefly, and going through the special feature stuff. The interviews, regarding the end of the show, bring tears to my eyes. The crew, the cast... everyone loved this show so very much, and Fox were completely short-sighted bastards and cancelled it because it was different to the usual fodder.
There's a story, I think [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and/or [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], or both told it to me. In "Out of Gas", Wash sets up a panic button, so that Mal can call the rest of the crew back if he manages to fix the engine. "If your miracle gets here, you pound on this, and we'll come running", he says. During the last days of shooting, the red button was 'acquired' by someone. Later, after the show has been cancelled and everything's over, Joss Whedon gets an evelope on his desk. Inside is the red panic button, with a note: "When your miracle gets here, you pound on this and we'll come running."
That story sums up the whole Firefly thing for me.
It's strange, how you get attached to things.

And speaking of things, a meme, gaked from [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], a new face on my friendslist from X-Project, the other thing I've gotten attached to lately.
Pick an interest from my interest list that you either 1) don't know anything about or 2) can't understand why I would dig it. Then you get to listen to me babble on about it in my usual long-winded fashion. To make it up to you, I'll let you babble at me about one of your interests, if you feel like it.
I even updated my interests so you actually have some choice. *grins*
