With the immigration application, that is. I've booked the medical and paid the deposit. The examination is going to cost me $250, hopefully including postage of the results to the appropriate people (since I don't get given the results...), but it's booked and ready to be done. I've got no problems with the results - despite the odd bout of 'flu, I'm the healthiest I've been for a while, and there's nothing nasty lurking that I know of. Chest x-ray as well. They're going the whole hog...

I'm going to experiment with fingerprints later today, so I can get the police check sent off - it's cheaper if you provide prints - $103. *sighs* Looks like it's going to be a quiet New Year for me - can't afford to do anything once I pay all this off, with the bike service costing almost $250 as well... And my next pay is pretty much going entirely on the credit card, barring living expenses, since that's how I'm paying for all of this right now. I just wish that damn backpay would come though - we're still waiting on it from early September, I think. Stupid sheriffs, holding everything up. :P

Still, I keep telling myself, they wouldn't be asking me to lash out on all this stuff if I hadn't already qualified, and that was the stuff I was worried about, rather than the medical and police check. So hopefully this time next year, I'll be living in Canada.

Well, that was a profitable afternoon. In a completely spending money kind of way. *grins*

To clarify - I got out of work early today, 3pm to be exact, because it's been quiet and the managers are garnering staff goodwill by being nice to us. All sorts of nifty treats. 3pm finish one day this week, two hour lunch break sometime next week (need to pick a day soon, can't be Monday or Tuesday...), casual clothes from now until NYE, brekkie for those of us working NYE (which will be me)... And the Kris Kringle/Secret Santa tomorrow, which I got around to purchasing my gift for at lunch today.

Any way, yeah, finished work early. Went Christmas gift shopping. Got my brother and mother's gifts, already have one thing for Dad (need to get the other half next week) and racking my brains trying to think of something for the grandparents, who are getting impossible to buy for. Mum, Dad, Lea? Any hints?

I also got my train ticket home - the 5.10pm train Christmas Eve (which means I'll get in between 8.30 and 8.45), coming back to Melbourne on the Tuesday afternoon. Yes, we got public holidays in lieu, yay!

Combined with making my medical appointment, I've gotten quite a lot done today. Might continue the streak and write up that police record application form. Addresses for the last ten years, oy...

I also caught up with Wondermouse and Craig (another karate buddy) for lunch, which was really good. And yes, we must get to this Japanese place of Craig's first week of January... ;)
