Queen of Packing
May. 22nd, 2008 04:17 pmQ: What do you not want to hear when you come into work?
A: "We're getting new furniture for the lawyers and so their offices have to be packed up by May 28. Oh, wait, aren't you going on a week's leave on Monday?"
And here's me with the two lawyers who aren't anywhere near the office for the next couple of weeks. Alvin's still off on sick leave and Jane's next office day is June 6. And Alvin's office was still full of boxes he hadn't unpacked from the move last year.
What's a poor legal assistant to do?
Well, roll up her sleeves and get stuck into it. I started around 11 a.m., and finished around 4 p.m., with an hour off at 2 for lunch (I lost track of time). And somewhere in the middle there, I had time to take a dictated letter over the phone and fax it out. But yeah, I am apparently made of awesome - I went through Alvin's boxes o' crap and ditched about three quarters of the contents, either to the trash or to the supplies cupboard; then I packed everything in Alvin's office sans one cabinet I can't get into since he has the key; and I've also packed everything in Jane's office as well.
So, who rules packing? I do, apparently.
Of course, now I'm exhausted and my feet are killing me, but that's what going to the movies is for. I'll just have to figure out somewhere for dinner, is all...
