Fun and games
Oct. 8th, 2008 12:42 pmLast night marked a rite of passage for my cat ownership - their first mouse. And no, not the toy one that Spike's obsessed with, a real, live, furry mouse. With the issues with the roomie's leaking ceiling and the large gaping hole (that was finally fixed yesterday, yay!), it seems the local building rodents decided to try their luck in our apartment.
Bad move.
Roomie and I were sitting on the couch when the cats started growling and tearing around. Dex eventually got up and went to see what the issue was, followed by a loud swear word and Spike fleeing down the hall and behind the couch, something in his mouth. His toy mouse, I thought, and then I realised the bell on its tail wasn't jingling. Dex then reappeared with the news that Spike had himself a mouse. I got up to find Spike crouched behind the couch, mouse in mouth, twitching feebly. Yay.
Grabbing cat by the scruff and mouse by the tail, I separated the two and tossed the mouse outside via the back door (in my pyjamas!). And that was my excitement for the evening.
Fever broke properly last night - I feel much better, albeit exhausted. Another day off today to sleep off the last of the virus, and then back to work tomorrow before everything goes to hell. Although I could have done without the chainsaw in the parking lot outside my window this morning. *wry*
