Money, it's a drag
Oct. 6th, 2009 01:14 pmSo, on the advice of Alvin, I've applied for membership with the Ontario Public Service Employee Credit Union and I'm looking at applying for a personal loan to pay out my Aussie credit card. I've been socking money away on that regularly for months now as well as not using it at all, and all I'm doing is paying off the interest and charges and barely touching the principal. The OPSECU seems to be pretty good about things and their interest rates are much better than a credit card company's, so I'd have a decent shot at paying the damn thing off by summer next year. Also, I wouldn't have to mess around with the two Paypal accounts to actually pay the loan off - I could direct debit straight to the credit union.
Because honestly? I'm tired of feeling like I'm going nowhere and I have Things I Want To Do. Like travel.
Hell, I might even be able to get myself a Canadian credit card and put the Aussie one away completely.
Edit: Stage 1, complete! I have an appointment on Thursday at 1 p.m. to open an account with them. After that, I'll look at filling in the loan application.
