Moments of Awesome
Mar. 31st, 2010 03:35 pmTaken from [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]'s link to l09's article, here's a list of my personal Fuck Yeah moments:
1) The awesome inspirational speech.
Babylon 5 Ivanova was always my favourite:
"Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova. Commander. Daughter of Andrei and Sophie Ivanov. I am the right hand of vengeance... and the boot that is going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth, sweetheart! I am Death Incarnate... and the last living thing that you are ever going to see. God sent me."
There's also Joss Whedon's speech at the start of the Serenity DVD which always makes me sniffly, and ends with the best line of all best lines:
"We have done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."
2) Outnumbered or totally pwned, but the hero still won't give up.
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, John Crichton's speech at the end where he's facing down a universal war and everyone who has ever wanted the wormhole knowledge in his head.
Commandant Mele-on-Grayza: You will not go through with this.
John Crichton: I ALREADY HAVE!
Emperor Staleek: I agree. You are weak, you will not sacrifice the woman and your offspring.
Aeryn Sun: Our son will be raised in peace.
John Crichton: Amen. You hear that you bastards. All or nothing.
[pause]
John Crichton: Wormhole doubles two more times, Moya goes first, 20 seconds later you join us. Either way this war is over. Peace.
3) The surprise turnaround, when you realize someone was one jump ahead all along.
Season 5 of Angel, where it's revealed that Angel has been pretending to be evil and is going to take down the Brotherhood of the Black Thorn. The scene where everyone's confronting him about his behaviour is just fantastic.
4) The moment of amazing altruism or saving others.
Serenity: The scene where the Serenity crew is deciding to broadcast the recording they found on Miranda, even though it means nearly certain death for them. Jayne, especially:
"Shepherd Book used to tell me, 'Can't do somethin' smart, do somethin' right'."
5) Someone takes the plunge into the unknown.
Doctor Who, when Rose levers open the TARDIS in an effort to save the Doctor from the Darleks. She had no idea what would happen, but did it anyway, because she couldn't leave him to die.
