So done with today already...
May. 4th, 2010 02:31 pmToday started off promisingly - I actually got to work at 8:50, cleared up the work that had accrued overnight and headed off to my French class. Two hours later, I come back to utter chaos and destruction. Including:
Urgent phone call to Jane in response to a message she left;
That call made, I then was dragged to the Nook to set up the laptop/TV for a Lunch and Learn meeting, despite the fact one of my co-workers has been through the same introduction meeting I did about setting this stuff up;
Urgent phone call to a prosecutor who was appearing in a matter for us;
Meeting with Sonia about something to do with files (I don't know, I still haven't gotten to it!);
Completion and service/filing of a Counter-Motion for Alvin, to be done before 1 p.m. It was 12 p.m. when we started;
Approximately a gazillion emails to respond to.
Best of all, when I'm in the middle of transcribing an affidavit of service from my phone, I have one of my co-workers interrupt me to let me know the laptop has stopped working for the Lunch and Learn. Turns out the power cord unplugged and the battery is old and crappy. *sighs* So yeah, I might have been a tad snappy, since I had Alvin in my face about getting this motion done and people can't even use a fscking laptop properly. I don't mind helping, but I do mind when a) it's something retardedly simple and b) I'm insane busy, have already told people that's the case and there's any number of other people in the office who know how to use a laptop. But yeah, I'll have to make nice now for the sake of office harmony.
Therapy tonight. I have a feeling we'll be talking about my frustration about feeling "on call" all the time - even when I try not to be responsible for everything, I wind up being dragged into doing things.
