What a [insert time period here]
Jun. 9th, 2010 10:44 amI know my journal's been a bit low on content lately, mostly because I've been insanely busy doing stuff for about a month now, and when I'm not busy, I'm exhausted.
Work's really ramped up - it's been insane for a couple of months now, but the last few weeks especially have been a lot of working through lunch and overtime. Pre-summer vacation busy time; people are trying to get cases dealt with before they go away on holidays. This week in particular has been bad (yes, I know it's Wednesday, but that's how busy I've been, it feels like I've been working longer than I have!), with factums, emergency resolution agreement dictation over the phone from Ottawa, three trials to prep and statistics on cases to compile for the director. I worked until 6:30 p.m. last night (no therapy yesterday, at least) and missed the articling students' farewell, but at least I got a chunk of what I needed to do done and today should be a bit easier.
Social life is getting busy too. I've been doing stuff with NAWG - Not A Writer's Group - who I found on Meetup.com. It's a group of writers who don't take things quite as seriously as usual writing groups, and who don't look down their noses at fanfic/comics/general geekiness. I've been enjoying our get-togethers so far. Now to just have the time and energy to get back into my fiction writing!
Last weekend we attacked Johnny and Mindy'sthistle patch backyard and managed to clear the regrowth as well as set up a veggie patch for them. As usual, I worked myself into a blister - this time a lovely one on the palm of my hand, which is defying bandaids. The roomie made dinner (sausages and cheese-stuffed burgers, yum!) and then we went home and died.
I've also been joining a pick-up baseball game on Sundays with people from the Griffin. Re-learning the basics of catching and throwing a ball is weird - you don't realise how much you lose of a movement until you don't do it for twenty-odd years. Plus, you know, baseballs are small and hard and scary. ;) But I'm getting the hang of it and it's activity out in the sun and fresh air, which is a bonus.
Herb boxes are planted and coming along brilliantly - the rain we've been getting lately is perfect for getting them settled. The basil has gone nuts, as has the savory, and it looks like I'll actually get some coriander without the damn thing bolting on me this time. Oh, and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]! One of your cucumbers has a flower! I visited them last night and there it was!
Any way, work emails are starting to pile up again and I need coffee before the series of phone calls I have to make, so time to disappear again.
