Holiday Plans and Schemes
Dec. 22nd, 2010 01:30 pmSo, I have just about all my Christmas shopping done - I got sneaky this year and did the online thing with Borders.com.au for the family, thus saving on postage and having to be organised at the start of December (not counting the parcel of extras I sent yesterday which will get in late, but that's okay). Two gifts left, both of which I'll manage at the HMV I think, and which I can leave until payday tomorrow.
My holidays are going to be quietish this year. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] leaves for Winnipeg to join [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] today, so it's me and the cats until Christmas night. Christmas Eve I'm going to Sandy's traditional Christmas Orphans party. Christmas day I'm thinking of sleeping in, making brunch and then, depending on how the TTC is running, maybe going and seeing a movie (I actually want to see the latest Harry Potter - I've decided there are no books, just a series of movies, and I enjoy it far more that way, even if Half Blood Prince was pretty weak) or, if for whatever reason that doesn't happen, going out and taking a walk in High Park and making sure I get some fresh air. Then I'm calling my folks via Skype, since it's Boxing Day for them by then. Roomie gets back in the evening, we have snacky food niblets to eat and I'll be collecting some movies to watch and maybe a bottle of vino or two.
Boxing Day is Hamilton for the roomie's family's Open Day, which will be lots of food and our Christmas socks. I'm not sure if anything's planned for the rest of the day, but the general idea is probably to hang out and relax. The roomie's seeing his London family on Monday, I have that and Tuesday off, being a public servant, so I'm figuring I'll be catching up on various writing projects those days.
I'm kind of hoping for snow. I know everywhere in the northern 'sphere that isn't Toronto has more of the stuff than they can manage, but I have to admit to a certain fondness for the White Christmas. Especially now I have a pair of gum boots to walk in it with. :)
